What are your favourite memories from watching Ireland at the World Cup?
Ray Houghton scoring that goal against Italy in 1994. Then there was the Romania game four years earlier and the penalties against Packie Bonner. Those days it was all about the old war horses but when the Niall Quinns, the Bonners, Houghtons and Stauntons packed it in they didn’t have enough quality coming through. They had a right good go this time though and it’s a pity what happened. But then Ireland had the chances to put that game to bed and didn’t take them. Typical. You could do a song for Ireland, that would be interesting. Have they ever had one? Wasn’t there one with Jack Charlton in it? They did have one for Big Jack, yeah that’s right. This is the first time there’s not been an official tune for England. Does that mean they’re actually taking it serious this time? Maybe Fabio’s pulling rank. I’d like to see Capello do the rap.
