What are you working on regarding hybrid technology to reduce fuel consumption?
Whether it’s diesel or hybrid, there are a number of different technologies that we are working on that we want to bring to market. And we will bring them to market. Q: Don’t you have Jaguars with supercharged diesels in Europe right now? A: Yes. And diesel engines are not what they used to be. You can drive a Jaguar or a Land Rover with a diesel engine and not know you are in a vehicle with a diesel engine. There are some federal legislation reasons why we can’t bring them into the U.S. yet. But we are working toward that. We don’t believe diesel is the complete answer. There is an assortment of different technologies that helps you be green and more environmentally friendly, whether they are electric hybrids or gas hybrids. Q: How is your current lineup environmentally friendly? A: I’ll give you an example. Our Jaguar XJ sedan has an aluminum body and an all-aluminum frame with gas mileage of 28 miles per gallon.
