What are Woodwind instruments?
Woodwind Instruments are so called because firstly they are blown using air from the lungs and secondly they are for the most part traditionally made of wood. Modern Woodwind Instruments include: flutes, clarinets, oboes, bassoons and saxophones as part of the Woodwind Family of Instruments of the Orchestra. It is on these instruments that the Schools` Music Service (SMS) provides tuition for those pupils who are most suitable and show aptitude . Many other Woodwinds have existed throughout history and some countries have their own individual and unique instruments.
