What are wax coated boxes?
Waxed boxes are literally corrugated cardboard boxes coated in wax so they will not deteriorate when packed with ice for shipping fresh produce. Waxed boxes are stronger than regular cardboard, especially when wet, plus they cushion and protect the produce. Approximately 1,500,000 new wax boxes are produced every day in the United States – that’s over 1,800 TONS per day!
