What are watch crystals fabricated of?
They can be fabricated of any of three materials: 1- Plexiglas (a clear, failing blazon of plastic), 2- accustomed bottle – like that acclimated for windows, and usually referred to in the watch business as “mineral glass” or 3- constructed azure (see catechism 4). Some crystals are fabricated of both mineral and azure glass. Seiko, for example, makes some watches with crystals fabricated of mineral bottle covered with a band of constructed sapphire. Seiko calls this blended actual “Sapphlex”.
