A waiting period is the amount of time you must serve as a member before claiming certain services. Waiting periods ensure our services are used fairly. They prevent members upgrading, downgrading or cancelling their cover to use specific services at minimum costs. By avoiding this, we can offer a more consistent service, at lower premiums, for everyone. Waiting periods apply to: • New members • Existing HCF members who upgrade to a higher level of cover or reduce excess payable.
