What are VOSA Schemes?
A number of forces have established specialist accreditation schemes for inspectors in the Vehicle Operator Services Agency (VOSA). Inspectors are issued with the single power to stop vehicles for the purpose of testing. This allows them to test vehicles without police assistance and so frees police officers to focus on other tasks. Further information can be obtained from the Road Policing Unit. Leicestershire Constabulary have already accredited this organisation.
