What are vivas and how/when will I know if I have one?
A viva is an interview with an external examiner. You may be invited to attend a viva if your final degree mark is on the borderline between two degree classifications. As a result of the viva you can either be advanced to the next degree class or keep your existing classification, you can not be put down a classification. During your viva you may asked questions on any aspect of your degree work, but the interviewer may focus on your dissertation. If you are given a viva you will be notified of this by your school at the end of your final year. More information on vivas and how to prepare for them can be found in your Student Handbook, found here.
