What are virtual learning environments?
VLEs are internal, self-managed websites that act as communication portals between parties such as students, teachers and parents. They enable twenty-four hour, seven days a week access to information and can be controlled and administered without the need for webpage development skills. Other names for VLEs include: · Learning Management Systems (LMS); · Managed Learning Environments (MLE); · Web-based Curriculum Management Platforms; · Online Education Communities; · Learning Community and Communications Environments; · Collaborative Learning Communities; and, · Networked Learning Environment.
