More common side effects of Valtrex include joint pain, abdominal pain, dizziness, minor skin rash, headaches, depression, sore throat, dizziness and menstrual pain. Some side effects which are more serious can include speech problems, drowsiness, confusion, vision problems, mood swings, agitation, hallucinations, pain in the lower back, difficulty concentrating, loss of appetite, weakness, vomiting, bleeding or bruising easily, fever, jaundice, decrease in urination or bloody diarrhea. Contact your doctor if you have any incidence off these more serious side effects. If you notice any signs of an allergic reaction such as rash or hives; trouble breathing or swollen tongue, throat, mouth or face you should seek medical advice straight away.
