What are unfortunate things that can happen if a person dies without a Will?
The law dictates both the persons to whom your property will pass and the division of your estate among those persons. The distributions provided by law are inflexible and may not reflect what you really wanted to happen to your property. For example, the law of intestate succession provides that a spouse and children receive a specific share of property in a persons own name. As a result, any property going to your minor children will result in a cumbersome and costly Guardianship. And, quite likely, the split would not be the way you want it.
