What are types of nutritional anemia? And why iron deficiency anemia is a main problem in developing countries?

A. Types of nutritional anemia are many. The most common is Iron deficiency anemia because iron is an important element in Hb formation in RBC and many factors affect its absorption and because of poverty in developing countries where they consume little animal proteins and because of parasitic infections resulting in blood loss or no absorption. Infection worsens the nutritional status and malnutrition predisposes to infection. Other types of nutritional anemia are due to deficiency of vit B12 (pernicious anemia) which is common among vegetarians, folic acid, sometimes deficiency of other nutrients as vit B2, B6, C, zinc.
