What Are Two Types Of Non-foliated Metamorphic Rocks?
Types of nonfoliated metamorphic rocks are marble, quartzite, metaconglomerate and Serpentinite. Nonfoliated metamorphic rocks are those that are not so much distinctly layered. These types of rocks were formed as these rocks were believed to be exposed to extremely high temperatures yet they were free from directional pressure at this point. A typical feature of nonfoliated metamorphic rock is that it tends to be highly recrystallized. Metamorphic rocks are grouped on the basis of their mineral composition and texture. The other type of metamorphic rock is foliated metamorphic rocks. These type of rocks include slate, phyllite, schist and gnesis. These rocks are layered due to the intense directional kind of pressure that was applied to them when they were buried deep within the earth.
