Survival of unfavorable conditions can take a lot of forms. One example is with the organism Bacillus, which makes hardy spores. These spores can literally survive long term boiling, and then when put in an optimal environment would create new colonies. Another method is just a general stationary phase. E. coli uses this. They require less nutrients, and use the ones they have at a much slower rate. As for 2 types of auto and heterotrophic bacteria, I think you mean general varieties, so I’ll go off of that. There’s photo and chemoautotrophs (the first uses light as an energy source, the second uses non-carbon energy sources), and then there’s chemo and photoheterotrophs (the first uses chemical sources for energy, but still utilizes carbon from elsewhere, and the latter uses light as an energy source and still uses carbon as well).
