What are tuesday morning quarterbacks in New York saying about Sanchez?

This morning’s coffee talk is a little bit different as each day brings something new to the preseason. Every football fan knows that not just do you have to know about your own team, but you need to know what your divisional opponents are doing at all times. After Brett Favre left New York it seemed like the Jets would be turning the reigns over to Kellen Clemens… that is until they drafted Mark Sanchez. Sure, Sanchez wasn’t the first quarterback taken in April’s draft, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t the best. After last season, Matt Ryan set the bar for rookie quarterbacks pretty high, but those types of performances from first year signal callers can’t be expected. Rookies tend to be inconsistent and they struggle. Sure they might have their flashes of brilliance, but they also have games where they don’t look like they belong in the league. Jets don’t baby Sanchez So much for being too young and inexperienced at the college level to start an NFL game at quarterback. Jets coach Rex Ryan not only started first-round pick Mark Sanchez, he asked the kid to carry the team during New York’s 24-7 victory at Houston. The Jets faced 18 third-down situations. Sanchez threw the ball on 16 of those plays, ran it once and kneeled once to end the game. He got the first down nine times passing and once running. He was 12-for-15 on third down for 191 yards and a 30-yard TD, throwing to four different receivers. That’s some debut for a guy who started only one year at Southern California before leaving early for the NFL. Sources: http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/59285977.html?
