What are traditional arrows made from?
A. Shafts are usually of wood (perhaps bamboo), with feather fletchings and points of steel or brass. In modern practice, the arrows are usually glued to the shaft, although in earlier days they would have been tied. A longbow will shoot modern metal, glassfibre or carbon arrows perfectly well, so long as they are spined to suit the draw weight and have flexible vanes (particularly important for shooting off the knuckle).
