What are TLDs and second level domains?
A Top Level Domain is the last part that domain names consist of. There are two types of TLD’s: 1) gTLD’s: a Generic Top Level Domain. They are typically used to describe organizations and businesses. Examples: com, info, biz, net, tv. 2) ccTLDs: Country-code TLDs. They are for web sites and registrants of a particular geographic location, such as: .IT (Italy), .ES (Spain), .FR (France), UK (England).US (United States), and .RU (Russia). The second-level domain name is the unique part of the address and refers to the entity behind the Internet address. For example, there can be only one domain which its second- level name is “trafficmedia” and the extension is COM. Any combination between the second- level to the top- level, must be exclusive.
