What are tie bars?

Tie bars are an installers nightmare! Seriously, tie bars are long thin lengths of steel with a plastic sleeve which give the roof structure support. You will usually find tie bars on quite large conservatories but in some cases on small ones too. Each tie bar rod is fastened into a roof spar across the width of a conservatory. Where these rods meet there will be a rod going vertically to the ridge of the roof. Where all three of these rods meet there will be decorative “tie bar rose” which hides the unsightly rods. Homeowners and installers don’t like tie bars. They can be unsightly and can get quite time consuming for the installer. Our conservatory roof system is different. Our roof has been designed to save time. Our bolting system ties the glazing bars of the conservatory with a grub screw through 13mm bolt. When tightened this grub screw locks into the glazing bar, supporting extra load. The global roof removes the requirement for many three way tie bars, and nearly all five way
