What are those small LCD buttons on the top of the Xtends case?
Those are the programmable LCD touch-sensitive case-top buttons. They allow a simple way to access frequently used applications or features. There is a small utility application that allows the user to re-assign the buttons to any application, as well as change the appearance of the icon on the button. For example, one button is by default set to launch the remoteX application, bringing up the universal remote application (and if necessary bringing the Xtend out of power-saving hibernation) at a touch of a button.
