I think you will find that they are speech prompters, in fact they are clear glass panels angled so they reflect into infinity a tv screen with is placed below . A person using the system looks at the screen and does not have to focus his/her eyes on the screen like you would standard tv screen, because the screens are clear the projected words appear to float in mid air. rather like a HUD (head up device) used in modern fighter aircraft.
