What are thermistors used for?
Thermisors are the standard resistors that is used to measure and regulate the temprature. It is used as controlling device in various electronics products like microwaves,toasters,kettler, thermistats. It also used to shut down the items that unnecessarily overheat.
One application we use thermistors for is we place them inside the windings of electric motors. If a fault develops with the motor during running, the motor temp will increase and cause the resistance of the thermistor to change. This in turn ‘flags’ up a problem and interrupts the power supply, cuts the power and saves the motor from burning out..
