What are therapeutic in-home activities?
All activity that stimulates our brains and hearts can be therapeutic. The Awakenings Therapeutic Program coordinators design and facilitate a plan of activities customized to the interests and needs of our clients. Each activity is created to promote physical, emotional, and intellectual well being, inspiring elders to live happy and healthy lives. These activities can include painting, creative expression, drama, music, and brain aerobics – memory enhancement. Awakenings Coordinators The Awakenings Coordinators have all received masters-level training to develop and facilitate customized therapeutic programs. This education and professional training enables coordinators to assess the unique needs of each client, both in terms of cognitive functioning and possibilities for expressive art activities. This expertise enables coordinators to monitor interactions and measure progress toward the desired outcomes – specifically, awakenings or re-awakenings of interests, skills and passions.
