What are then, realistic expectations of a solid wood floor?
It will adjust and resettle as it under-goes climactic changes. You may notice, first thing in the morning, after the cool of the night, as you walk across the floor, it may make slight groaning noises and when you turn around and go right back it will be quiet. It has just resettled. It may do the same thing after you have boiled a pot of pasta, or washed your non-wood floors. There may be some apparent gapping in the dryer, colder times of the year. Relax, come summer, the sun will shine, the birds will sing and your hardwood floors will tighten up. But, because of wood being a natural product, there may develop a board with a persistent squeak that might be noticeable most of the time. The reasons could be many. Needless to say, this is an annoyance that can be dealt with, and we have the experience to correct it.
