What are the Zoning Standards regarding a fence?
Fences designed to enclose property in any district shall be subject to two conditions: (1) Fences in any platted subdivision or lot of record shall not contain barbed wire or be electrified, (2) No fence shall obscure the vision of drivers of vehicles at any driveway entrance or exit, street intersection or other pedestrian or vehicle property access point. The Office of Planning and Zoning uses the following policies regarding fences: • A fence may locate at or along the property line. If the affected neighboring owner agrees, the fence may locate on the lot line. • Fences in front setback areas or areas in front of the house wall, may be four (4) ft. high. This is the maximum height permitted for structures in required yards. • Fences in side and rear yards, may be six (6) ft. in height.
