What are the WtW Housing Voucher Program Eligibility Requirements?
• The family must not already be receiving tenant-based assistance under Section 8 of the U.S. Housing Act of 1937. Public housing families, families living in Section 8 project-based units, and families receiving time-limited rental assistance under the HOME program or under a state or local initiative are eligible to participate as long as they also meet all other WtW voucher program eligibility requirements. • The family must meet all eligibility requirements for the Section 8 housing choice voucher program. • When initially selected, the family must fit into one of the following TANF-related categories: • Family is eligible to receive assistance or services funded by TANF; • Family is currently receiving assistance or services funded by TANF; or • Family has received assistance or services funded by TANF within the last two years. • Section 8 tenant-based assistance must be critical to the family’s ability to obtain or retain employment.
