What are the visa entry requirments for british nationals to work in ireland?

None, as a British national you don’t require a visa to live & work in the Republic of Ireland or any other EU member state. Under Irish legislation a British national has the right to move to Ireland & be treated as if they are an Irish citizen (there is similar legislation in the UK covering Irish citizens) except that you can’t vote in referendums. A passport would be more useful then photographic ID, most airlines require you to have a passport as ID & it’s also irrefutable proof that you are a British citizen. The only thing you really need to do when you get to the Republic of Ireland is apply for a PPS (Personal Public Service) Number which is the Irish equivalent of a National Insurance Number.
