What are the Visa and Passport Requirements?
Mozambicans and South Africans are not required to apply for visas if their stay in each other’s country does not exceed 30 days. However, for non South African citizens, visas are required when travelling to Mozambique. Please ensure that your passport is valid for 6 months in order to get a visa, either in South Africa before departing to Mozambique, or when entering Mozambique at the border or at the airport. Please make sure that there is enough space in passports for the inclusion of the visa.
Entry is relatively straightforward to the majority of foreigners travelling to South Africa. Travellers from the USA and most European countries do not need to apply for a visa. Upon arrival in South Africa, travelers from these countries are given a free entry permit sticker with details of how long they may stay in the country. This permit is usually valid for a maximum of 90 days.
