WHO considers asbestos cement products highly eco-friendly. The task group of WHO on asbestos and other natural mineral fibres concluded that ” the studies conducted to date provide very little convincing evidence of an association between asbestos in public water supplies and cancer induction”. (Ref.: International programme on Chemical safety, Environmental Health Criteria NO.53: Asbestos and other Natural Mineral Fibre, WHO 1986).
