What are the vector and raster images?
The vector file format (SWF, AI, EPS or SVG), has the lines and shapes trasferred as mathematical deffinitions, unlike the raster files (BMP, JPEG or PNG) where they are series of pixels lined up in rows with color values applied to each individual pixel. The biggest difference is that the vector files are scalable and you can change their size without the loss of quality, while the raster files pixels cannot be streched without the siginificant quality loss. But, raster files have far more realistic appearance, while the vector files have that unavoidable computer game look and feel.
