There are different ways of ceiling fan wiring. One way is to wire the power directly to the fan, with the blue and black wires linked to each other. The pull strings are used to control both the fan and the lights. It is also possible for the ceiling fan and light to have a single switch so that you won’t need to have too many wirings to worry about. Both the blue and black wires are linked to the switch’s black wire. Whenever the switch is flipped on, so are the lights and the fan. It has a disadvantage though because you can only use the fan at night.
