What are the various Hours and Grade Point Averages (GPA) listed on my transcript?
Attempted Hours – counts all academic credits that were attempted regardless of whether you withdrew, failed, or passed, or repeated the courses. Earned Hours – counts all academic credits that were earned. It does not count the following: remedial or developmental courses, non-accredited credits, withdrawn, failed, or audited courses, nor repeated courses. Repeated courses only earn credits when they are first taken. GPA Hours- may be either institutional or transfer. The “Institutional GPA” refers to hours taken at FAU: this GPA is used to compute your official university GPA and academic standing such as honors, probation, suspended, or dismissed. Hours earned outside FAU and Exam credits such as AP, CLEP, and DSST are considered as transfer credits. Cumulative GPA – this GPA is the cumulative GPA of ALL of your academic work: either for a specific term of a specific institution or college.
