What are the values on which the new Code of Conduct is based and where did they come from?

PThe new Code of Conduct is based on the five public service values: respect, integrity, diversity, accountability, and the public good. While the Public Service Commission (PSC) was developing the Corporate Human Resource Plan 2005-2010, it found that many departments had their own values but nothing corporate in nature existed. The PSC met with a number of employees, senior managers, professional forums and leadership development participants to identify what values were most important. After consultation with these groups, the five overarching public service values were identified. These five values are the foundation for the new values based Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct provides guidance on how employees can practically apply these values in their everyday work.
