The United Nations was established by Charter at San Francisco on june 26,1945.It is based on the sovereign equality of all its members and establishes machinery to enable them to settle their disputes,maintain international peace and co-operate together for the general welfare.Power is given to Her Majesty by the United Nations Act 1946 to give effect by Order in Council to measures not involving the use of armed force,including the apprehension,trial and punishment of persons offending against the Order.
