What are the Unions doing for Hispanic Heritage Month?
What happens in September? Football games, tailgating, rush and Hispanic Heritage Month! As a University aiming at becoming a Hispanic-serving institution, recognizing Hispanic Heritage month is one of the ways UA caters to the rapidly increasing Hispanic student body. And this year art exhibits, events and other activities will contribute to the cultural celebration this month! Monday initiates this months panel discussions, educational programs and speaker series with the Hispanic Heritage Month 2008 kick off! This month aims to not only make our community more aware of our cultural surroundings but also alert and educate everyone of border tensions. As many of us know, we are located mere minutes from the border; therefore, understanding the escalating problems at the border could shed new light on it. And while there will be serious issues depicted this month, there will also be entertaining events! If you love art, come check out the “La Celebracion y El Sufurimiento” art exhibit
