What are the uniformed services employment and reemployment rights notice requirements?
The Veterans Benefits Improvement Act of 2004 (P.L. 108-454) added a notice requirement to the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act. Each employer is required to provide persons entitled to rights and benefits under that law with a notice of their, and their employers’, rights, benefits, and obligations under the law. This can be done by posting a notice where employers customarily place notices for employees. In late February 2005 the Department of Labor posted the required notice on the Department’s web site at http://www.dol.gov/vets/programs/userra/poster.pdf; the poster was subsequently withdrawn and reposted on March 10, 2005. Initially two versions of the poster were published – one for use by private and state employers and another for use by federal agencies.
