What are the Unidentified Animals and Plant categories all about?
Many times we have biologists who, along with submitting images on their specialty, submit photographs on organisms for which they are not experts in identifying. Because these photographs are still useful for education, research, and more, we have accepted them but have labeled them as “Unidentified.” If you are a specialist on that particular taxon, our contributors would welcome further information.
