The basic types are wine, beer, liquor, and liqueur. Within each of these are several subcategories. For instance with wine there is red and white, “blush wines” are considered red, within these are ‘varietals’ , regionals, and cuvee’ (blended). With beer there is lager, pilsner, ale, stout, etc. With liquor there is vodka, bourbon, rum, blended whiskey, etc. With liqueur there is Kahlua, flavored brandies, etc. There are literally thousands.
