What are the types and sizes of nasal pillows available?
A. There are two types of nasal pillows, dilator and standard. The dilators are longer pillows that extend up into the nose much further than the standard pillows. This can be good for sealing but often causes the user considerable discomfort. We much prefer the standard pillows, as they are much easier on the nose. The only exception is for patients that are too large for the standard large pillows. These patients may try the large dilator or the extra large standard pillow. For some reason, the large dilator has a better track record than the other dilator sizes. This can be helpful if the extra large standard pillow leaks excessively.
