While your experience will be the same or similar whether you choose an exchange or a study abroad (also called one-way) program, it is important for you to know the difference because it impacts directly on the cost. The Semester/Year programs are either Study Abroad or Exchange Programs. Participants in Exchange Programs pay tuition and fees (sometimes room and board) at Appalachian and not at the host institution. Study Abroad program fees are set by the host institution/program.
