What are the two major classifications of signal transduction?
I’m not sure what you’re asking here, but if your talking about sensory transduction, then light waves have to be transduced (changed) into action potentials in the retina. This is accomplished in the eye as photons of light activate chemical reactions in the rods and cones which in turn sends action potentials to the occipital (visual) cortex. Sound waves have to be transduced into action potentials which is accomplished in the ear as the sound waves cause the basilar membrane to move which causes the hair cells to bend, resulting in action potentials which are sent to the temporal (auditory) cortex.
