What are the trendy new foods/dishes in San Franciscos restaurants?
Daniel “Lightly Sleazoned” W. says: Don’t know, Rick, but this is an awesome topic. Of course there’s the tapas/small plates thing, but that’s not exactly new. Also the comfort food thing, but again, in no way new (although stuff like up-scaled mac & cheese or the smores a la Luna Park are damn good). Seen some “luxe” interpretations of cuisine that’s usually bargain; eg luxe Mexican, luxe Soul Food. People have been doing deconstruction and avant garde spin-offs for awhile, but I’ve yet to see any of that which is actually new. I’ll keep my thinking hat on.
