What are the trends in tourism between Belgium and Bulgaria?
We have had, we have for many years an average influx of Belgian tourists in Bulgaria numbering about 30 000. In better years, this goes up to 40 000. This is also something that depends on the good general relations between Bulgarian tourist agencies and their partners in my country. On the Black Sea coast, north of Varna, it is so well-known that many of my fellow-countrymen come to those beaches in August that I can speak my native Flemish without having the feeling of being a foreigner. What is Belgium doing to assist Bulgaria’s process of accession to the European Union? On the political side we have very close contacts and there is regular contact with the relevant Government departments, particular with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the department dealing with European matters.
