What are the treatments for tricuspid valve regurgitation?
Tricuspid valve regurgitation is generally quite well tolerated. If the regurgitation is severe, patients maybe treated with diuretic therapy to lessen the water content within the blood vessels. This often helps with swelling in the ankles and abdomen. For some patients surgical repair or replace of the tricuspid valve is required to alleviate (lessen) symptoms. A repair of the tricuspid valve is often preformed at the same time as repair of significant mitral valve regurgitation or stenosis.
