What Are the Treatments for Dry Gangrene?
Dry gangrene is the decay and death of tissue caused by an interruption of blood flow through the arteries. In dry gangrene, the tissue becomes cold and black, dries out and eventually sloughs off. Dry gangrene occurs more commonly in people with blocked arteries such as people with high cholesterol, diabetes or those who smoke. Gangrene can occur on any part of the body but most commonly affects your toes, fingers and limbs. Treatments for dry gangrene include surgery or antibiotics. Recovery from gangrene is good when gangrene is treated early.
