What are the top predators called in a food chain?
Are you thinking of “Apex predator”. Which are the top level predators that have no predators of there own. Apex predators in many cases have food sources that are similar and therefore they are rivals. Apex predators can and will kill other apex predators to slim down the competition for food. Such animals would be Lions and Hyenas. There can also be many Apex predators inhabiting the same territory such as Bears, Cougars, and Wolves. Apex predators generally don’t eat each other, unless they desperately need food, but instead kill just to reduce competition.
