What are the tipping guidelines?
Suggested gratuities vary from cruise line to cruise line, and generally range from $7 to $15 per person, per day. Some cruise lines offer a list of suggested gratuity amounts for the various shipboard staff, and some cruise lines automatically add these gratuities to your shipboard account. With many cruise lines, you will have the option to remove the automatically added gratuities if you are dissatisfied with the level of service provided, or in the event that you wish to tip the staff personally. This is done by visiting the Purser’s desk prior to debarkation. Check with your Vacation Consultant or the cruise line for their specific gratuity policies and charges. A general rule of thumb is $10 per person per day, this will cover your waiter, bus boy and cabin steward other shipboard personnel can be tipped for special services at your discretion. A 15% gratuity is automatically added to your bar, beverage, wine and deck service tabs. Many cruise lines are now adding gratuities to your onboard account; you may want to check your cruise lines tipping policy.
