What are the three mission projects that will be funded?
Opportunities for hands-on mission — one near Rochester, one in the U.S., and one in another country — are currently being defined by the Mission committee. Local initiatives under consideration include further support for Rochester Area Neighborhood House as they seek to establish new offices. Additionally, due to cuts in mission funding at the Presbytery level the committee is evaluating several extra commitment opportunities that can no longer be supported at the Presbytery level. For our national-level project we are planning to adopt a Gulf coast church that was ravaged during last year’s hurricane season. Internationally, the committee is working closely with our friends in Mexico and South America, including Susie Frerichs and her work to spread the gospel in the Huastecas in central Mexico, Pastor Alonzo’s congregation in Brazil, and newly ordained Pastor Isaias Beh Ramiraz as he establishes his ministry in southern Mexico.
