What Are the Three Domains of Living Organisms?

One of these classification systems is known as the Three Domains. All of the biological organisms on the planet Earth are considered to be classifiable in one of these three categories. The concept of three domains of life was proposed by a microbiologist named Carl Woese. The concept arose in the late 20th century due to advances in molecular microbiology. Before this time, there were two main categories of life: Eukarya and Prokarya. Eukarya The category of organisms known as Eukarya contains a wide scope of various biological forms. This includes most organisms familiar to humans today. The grouping of organisms into the category of Eukaryotes is based around the cellular struc
