What are the textures of igneous rocks?
Igneous rocks are usually identified by looking at the crystal size. Igneous rocks with crystals that are very small (less than 1 mm) have aphanitic texture. Igneous rocks with crystals that are visible (1-10 mm) have phaneritic texture. Igneous rocks with crystals that are large (greater than 1 cm) have pegmatitic texture. Lastly, igneous rocks with different crystal sizes have porphyritic texture.
