“The most common test specification is AAMA/NWWDA 101/I.S. 2-97. This document provides minimum test sizes, test pressures, allowables and other requirements for vinyl, wood and aluminum windows and patio doors. There are other test standards for use in other countries as well as jurisdictional specifications for certain areas of the country such as Dade County Florida. Almost all test specifications reference ASTM test methods for specifics on performing the tests. Those documents include ASTM E283 for air infiltration, ASTM E331 and E547 for water penetration and ASTM E330 for structural or wind loading.
